The Knoxville Area Climbers (KAC) is an affiliate partner of the East Tennessee Climbers Coalition (ETCC) and the Cumberland Climbing Coalition (CCC) in an effort to bring together and better serve the whole Tennessee Valley climbing community. KAC is an organization whose mission is to maximize rock climbing and recreational opportunities in the Knoxville Area by working to secure additional and more permanent access to potential climbing areas in this region. To achieve these goals, KAC is working with businesses, land owners, land managers, and government leaders.

We promote low-impact, environmentally sensitive, safe climbing practices to respectfully use the climbing resources in our area. We seek to foster communication and strive to serve as a voice for the climbing community, in collaboration with our partners, in discussions with land managers, and other parties involved in resource access.

We recognize that achievement of the above objectives depends upon the participation and voice of the climbing community. Success depends on incorporating views from throughout our climbing community in our activities advocating climbing in the East Tennessee region. KAC welcomes community input. Anyone who wants to know more about the organization’s goals and activities is encouraged to contact KAC through this website or by contacting any member of its board.

A small group of local climbers started the TNVCA in 2016. Here's a little about the founders and current board of directors:
